“The question for me is how frequencies, movement and in-betweens we encounter (body, earth, cosmos) relate and transform into sound.
My sound work is closely related to and dependent on body. I tend to listen in and relate. I take part in the movement exploration of pieces I design. I create a lot of my sound with machine. I find it’s a constant counterplay where I use machine to create sound and machine creates me. I am an outdoor enthusiasts so air, water and earth is crucial to my designs.” “Beyond this I am interested in the unknown. Especially how we as humans interact with cosmos. The thought of us being on a rotating planet constantly traveling through cosmos and its fields intrigues me. The question for me is how frequencies, movement and in-betweens we encounter (body, earth, cosmos) relate and transform into sound.

Bio:
Tom Lönnqvist is a Helsinki based artist working with sound, space and performance. He has a masters degree in sound and has been part of several acclaimed dance and performance art pieces. Tom’s artistic work include working with body, modular synthesis, installation, painting, video, drums and ambisonic field-recordings.
